We will begin report card testing soon!  Please practice rhyming, segmenting words (Directions:  Say I am going to say a word.  After I say the word, I want you to say each sound of the word that you hear.  If I say lot, you would say /l/ /o/ /t/.  Be sure to say each of the three sounds separtely.  Have your child use their thumb and pointer to say the first sound,  thumb and tall man for the second sound, and thumb and ring man for the third sound.  Words read by parent:  can (/c/ /a/ /n/);   bed (/b/ /e/ /d/); mop (/m/ /o/ /p/); syllable awareness (Clap softly as you say each syllable in the word:
window, today, glue, cabin, red, lamp, furniture); phoneme matching (Listen as I say a word: cat. Which word begins with the same sound as cat?  tan, cop, bat (cop); and clending CVC words.  Letter/sound recognition will also be tested as well.  Continue practicing sight words and all color words.
