The students had the opportunity to meet an illustrator! Susan Eaddy has illustrated several children's book and has a unique way of doing it! Instead of drawing or painting...she usees clay! She buys clay and colors it. Then she molds the clay into a scene in the book. Next she photographs her clay art and those pictures are what becomes the illlustrations in a book. It was interesting to see her THICK notebook of research that she completes before she every begins work on a book. Each character and EVERY item in the scene is reserached for accuracy. We also were surprised to learn that it is the publishing company that selects the illustrator and NOT the author!
