JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS

As you read your book, complete the following journal assignments.

Journal 1: Table of Contents: First, make a list of the numbers of the chapters in your book. After you read each chapter, go back to this page and make up a title that accurately reflects what each chapter is about.

Journal 2: Write down interesting and scary words, images, phrases, or details from the story. Think about them. Why did the author choose them? What do they add to the story? Why did you notice them? Complete a double-entry journal. Divide your paper in half and copy scary words from the text on the left and write your reactions to the words on the right.

Journal 3: Complete the Character Descriptions Organizer for your book. Find examples of what the main character and the villain say, do, and think. Then write a short description of each character based on your examples.
